Pearlescent glazes are a new and highly innovative type of paint finish. The glazes themselves come in various colours, with gold being shown in the picture to the left. Pearlescent glazes only work when there is an abundance of natural or artificial light as this it makes it shine. Imaginative Interiors has used this finish on various scales and has achieved some beautiful results. It works especially well as a stripe on walls as it stands out brilliantly when the other stripe is matt. |

The Basket Weave paint effect is achieved by dragging a tinted glaze diagonally to create a criss-cross effect. This finish only works on walls as it must be done a large scale for it to have any impact. Basket Weaving works well in any colour and has been used by Imaginative Interiors for such things as an African inspired bathroom and bold entrance hall. |

Bagging, as the name implies, is a paint effect created by manipulating a tinted oil glaze with a plastic bag. Although this does not sound particularly impressive the results are very dramatic and it disguises rough or uneven brilliantly. Bagging works well in any colour and is predominately used as a wall finish, although it can be used on some furniture
Further Paint Effects Include Sponging, Ragging, Stippling, Flogging, Combing, Splattering and bravura finishes such as Malachite, Porphyry, Lapis Lazuli, Agate and Tortoiseshell
