Paint Effects - Marbling

Marbled columns

The columns of this local hotels reading and drawing rooms were painted to look like real marble and add even more splendor to these magnificent rooms.

Marbling is perhaps the most decadent of all the 'faux' finishes and can be applied to both walls and furniture with stunning results.
Imaginative Interiors has completed numerous private and commercial projects ranging from repair work on real marble pillars to fireplaces in private homes, and are considered leaders in the field of 'faux' marbling.

'Faux' marbling was pioneered by the Ancient Egyptians over 3000 years ago and is still widely used today to add style and a certain quality to any room.

When re-creating the look of real marble any specific style can be achieved, from sienna to van de mer, however it is often best not to copy a specific style but aim to achieve a generalized representation of it.

Design, colour, tone, weight and a sense of movement are all extremely important in creating a successful and realistic finish, with a gentle effect often being more stunning than one that is more strident.

Marbling is a wonderfully versatile effect that can be painted on both walls and furniture with stunning results.
